Dear Readers,

As I have started learning German at the beginning of this year, and have constantly learned to use my time efficiently, I would like to make my introduction in English which I hope doesn’t cause any problem for any of you.

My name is Kevin Sur, I am trainee in the functional area of production since March 2007. From now on I will do my best to give you information about my experiences as a Technical Trainee at BOSCH.

I am half Turkish half French, was born and lived in Turkey until the end of high school and at the age of 16 I decided to pursue my studies in the U.S.. After spending 4 years at the University of Miami (B.S in Industrial Engineering) and 2 years at Columbia University in the city of New York (M.S in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research), I decided that I was ready for a new challenge: New country, new culture, new language…

Having decided that a trainee program was the correct way to start my professional career, I can list a lot of reasons for choosing Robert Bosch. Some of the most important ones are: German engineering and reputation of the company, the multi-cultural working environment and the opportunity to work all around the world.

My first experience as a Trainee started in Bamberg as a production planner for Common-Rail-Injectors. Bamberg is the lead plant for this product and responsible for 8 other countries all around the world. Some of my duties were: making improvement recommendations for the production process, reacting immediately in case of a disturbance in the production lines, ordering new parts for machines when needed, assisting other countries in finding solutions to their problems and many others.

I am currently in the TEF (Technology Functions) department where I will spend 2 months in total. In addition to having an overview about the department duties and functions, the goal is to get some deeper technical knowledge.

Do not hesitate to write me questions or comments in German and if you prefer so, I will do my best to respond to you in German. Otherwise English, French and Turkish languages are also welcomed!
