Switzerland - Machine Preliminary Acceptance

Kevin • 29.November, 2007 @ 02:10 • Abgelegt unter: Fertigung

Last week was an exceptionally interesting week for me. I drove to
Switzerland with 4 colleagues for a machine preliminary acceptance. The purpose of a machine preliminary acceptance is to make sure that the ordered machine is matching the specifications and requirement agreed in the contract before the delivery time is defined. When everything works out well, an agreement is signed at the end of the visit stating that the machine is ready to be delivered.  In this specific case, the machine manufacturer was a brand new deliverer, which made things much more complicated for us (Bosch representatives) as well as for them (machine manufacturers): Selling a machine to a big company like Bosch is far away from being simple. There are strict Bosch standards for each and every detail one can imagine. Safety, efficiency, design, performance, cleanliness… A company that has sold many machines to Bosch is already aware of these standards and builds the machine using previous experiences. But after spending 4 complete days making tests and inspections, it was clear for us that there is a lot more to be done before we could accept the machine delivery. This was a perfect case for a first time experience as I had the chance to participate from start to end to such an inspection. The working hours were considerably longer than a usual day at Bosch but on the other hand travelling, working and even eating good Swiss food with colleagues 4 days in a row improves greatly the colleague-relations.
