Viva México

Dear readers,
Well, I finally made it to México D.F. (México City), am installed at work and have a place to live! Lots of exciting things to mention and to write about here!
So, as you should all know, I came to México just in time to see the appearance of this dreaded swine flu! It’s been a crazy ordeal so far and even as I write this I’m wearing my little protective face mask. The Mexican government has mandated the closing of the metro, public schools and parks until May 5th. Many restaurants are even closed and most bars are as well; thus, it is not the most ideal time to be exploring this country. This past weekend was even more strange… as I was walking around downtown I felt a bit like Will Smith in I am Legend, since there were times where I saw no signs of human life: no cars, no people; only the wind in the trees and the birds whisteling. But it seems like now things are slowly getting back to normal, hopefully the world can get a good grip on this virus and fight it!
As for my job, of course for the first 2 weeks I spent reading about the product range and meeting with people within my Abteilung to learn better what they do. I am working for TT (thermotechnik) and specifically for the Buderus brand which makes wood, gas and solar water heaters for both residential and industrial uses. I will have several job functions but I will primarily be working in marketing as a product manager. My list of job functions are as follows,
- adapt the solar water heater catalog from Spain for the Mexican market and culture
- initiate a market study to see if we can expand the product line of the Buderus brand in México
- if the market study shows potential, write up a business plan for the selling, distribution, advertising, etc of the new products
- continue with the organization of the trainee assessment center: Meet Bosch in Stuttgart - Der grüne Bosch
well that’s it for now, as usual, post any comments or questions!

Hi Constantino,
nice to hear that you are fine. I was just wondering how you would feel in Mexico.
Greetings from Schwieberdingen
