Work and Travel in México

Time to blog and give you all an update on my work, my adventures and just general life in México. Let’s start with the work, shall we?So, after a few weeks of orientation, reading, and getting to know the products that Buderus sells, I was ready to start work! My main task was to create all of the marketing communication material for the Buderus brand in México. As of now, only a small, very brief catalog of our products exists; my task, thus, was to make a new one. Along with this, I was to create a general library of information for our products; anything from existing catalogs from other countries, technical documents, and high resolution photos. With this library in place, I could begin a deeper study of what makes the products unique compared to our competitors. The aim of this was to develop USP (unique selling propositions) for our products which I would then highlight in the new catalogs. After a few weeks of competitor study, I was able to pinpoint our USPs to lay down the framework of the catalogs. With all this information in place, I started work of the layouts for datasheets and catalogs.
Recently, a new task has come up involving the launch of a new product line in México. This indeed is an exciting tasks since it deviates from Marketing and now goes straight into Product Management. My task now is to figure out if we can actually sell this product. So, we have to establish a price range for this new product based upon our current line as well as competitors. We then have to predict a number of units we will sell and then it’s up to Germany to decide if we can go ahead and start selling this product here in México. Since this task is so new, I’ll be writing my next blog about it, so stay in tune!
Now, for the travel! I’ve had the luxury of being able to spend several days in the Riviera Maya and the state of Chiapas. Now, I’ve traveled to many countries and seen many cultures; but I would have to say that what I saw and experienced on this trip has been some of the most beautiful and fascinating things I’ve ever seen. The Riviera Maya is filled with many Mayan ruin locations, many of which I was able to visit, let’s take a look at them!
Tulum, an ancient Mayan fortified city:
Tulum is located right on the beach :
Chichen Itza, the Mayan capitol:
Giant ball court at Chichen Itza:
Becan:

On this trip, many KM were logged, and many MANY different parts of México were explored. Some other highlights were…
Bacalar:
The state of Chiapas:
More Chiapas:
And finally the waterfalls of Misol Ha:
Well that’s about it for this post. :( I’ve got more photos that need to be edited and then posted; but don’t worry, you’ll get a glimpse of the wonderful scenes in México in my next post as well as an update of my work. In the meantime, if you all have any questions, don’t hesitate to leave a comment on this post!
But before I go, something more to dream about….
